Metro line project, Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh - Full Details

Metro rail is running successfully in many big cities of India like Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Lucknow, Pune, etc. Soon Gorakhpur will get its own metro line, the project is announced and soon going to be on road by this year.

Basic information

• Gorakhpur light metro or metro light is designed to be built with 2 lines and 27 stations in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh by States metro rail corporation.
• In 2017, the Uttar Pradesh metro rail corporation (UPMRC) was selected as the coordinator by the government of Uttar Pradesh and also assigned the task of bringing all stakeholders to get the first phase of the project started.
• Later the same here, Rail India technical and economic service limited (RITES) He was assigned to submit the detailed project report that is DPR which was submitted in March 2019.
• The DPR by RITES Was approved by the state government on October 2 2020 and by a union government body, the public investment board (PIB) in November 2021, The delay in the process is because of the pandemic in respected time, as it was reported by both governments the same year.
• The project it’s estimated to be built over a distance of 27.41 kilometers and at the cost of ₹4672 Crores.

Gorakhpur Metro Routes

The metro project is proposed To be built in 2 lines.
● Line 1 - Shyam Nagar to Sooba Bazar, covering the overall distance of 16.95 kilometers.
This line off metro will be an elevated type of metro, meaning it will run on the ground only not underground following given stations :
Bargadwa, Shastri Nagar, Nathmalpur, Gorakhnath Mandir, Hazaripur, Dharamshala, Gorakhpur Railway Station, Mohaddipur, Ramgarh Lake, AIIMS, Malviya Nagar, MMM Engineering College, Divya Nagar and finally to Sooba Bazar.
● Line 2 - Gulriha to Kachehri Chauraha, covering the overall distance of 10.46 KM.

This Line of the metro will run the following given routes :
Gulriha, BRD Medical College, Mugalaha, Khanjanchi Bazar, Basharatpur, Ashok Nagar, Vishnu Nagar, Asuran Chowk, Dharamshala, Gol Ghar, and finally to Kacherhri Chauraha.
 

Metro fares or Ticket prices :

• Detailed information about the metro ticket price, fare structure, and rules have not been announced yet and is supposed to be done just before the start of commercial operations by the metro.
• But it is expected to be comparatively near to the face of most metro’s running around the territory or even less.
Gorakhpur metro tenders and distribution of contract
• As per the latest Gorakhpur metro notice the invitees for 10 days are available on the official website of Uttar Pradesh metro rail corporation limited ( UPMRCL).
• Including the current tender the UPMRCL is doing itself and Yet no other private major player has been invited.
As per Getting the public investment board that is PIB from the center, the UP government published a notice about the metro to be commercially operational by 2024 and work is in speedy progress.
